Bought these to fix a used Roomba. They charged, but then discharged instantly and took another 3 hours to recharge. Probably the Roomba and not the batteries.

DO NOT BUY. Does not keep a charge.

I bought them, had high hopes of having a cheap option to the official Roomba battery.

Installation isn’t totally easy because the plastic cap over the battery was glued all the way around — took a while to open it. If it had actually worked as promised, this would have been OK.

But I plugged it in, ran it the first day. I don’t know how long the battery lasted, but it seemed to be working fine. I charged again. A few days later I ran it, seemed to work. Charged again.

Third time: The charge lasted about 15 seconds, the Roomba complained and died.

Can’t charge it any more, can’t run it any more.

I’ve contacted the company for a refund/replacement, we’ll see what happens.

Easy replacement of dead battery, just remove soldered battery wires and solder on new battery ones. Completed in 10min.”

The battery pack came in fast and it works great. It charges up in 2 to 3 hours. My original one needed 8+ hours to charge.

This thing is a great $$ saver, though you pay for it in the difficulty of removing the lid from the old battery. It can be done with patience, just be aware that it’s not a 5 minute thing to install these.

As others have mentioned, the battery case is hermetically sealed. A couple of regular screwdrivers will get it open with a few minutes of careful prying. The replacement pack comes with short leads. It’s probably easier to connect the old leads to the new ones and use the heat shrink tubing on the connections. I chose to desolder the old contacts and solder the new leads to the contacts. It’s tight working quarters in there and in hindsight wished I had just spliced the wires together.

I give it 4 stars, not for the effort level, but for the lack of documentation.

I’m very pleased with the ease of replacing battery packs, the price and the performance. I highly recommend this method of updating Roomba battery packs.

Purchaser must be sure that the pack is compatible with their model IRobot vacuum.

Although this pack was advertised for “400 series” IRobot Vacuum cleaners, it was not compatible with my model, which uses NiMH,not NiCD battery pack.

Amazon Service took no responsibility other than refer me to Tenergy. I had to contact them, return and exchange at my expense.

relatively easy to replace the old one with the included special screw driver. Total took 10 minutes. Battery has been holding charge well and making iRobot working overtime.

This is a good alternative to paying extortion prices for a replacement battery from I-Robot. A few caveats:

    1) No instructions with the battery pack. In addition to the handy screwdriver, the seller could have included an instructions sheet.

    2) The original battery was practically impossible to open! It was glued shut and I had to take a chisel and hammer to break into the damned thing.

I didn’t get the 3400mAH upgrade some of you got, which would have been nice, but I payed for the 2400mAH so I shouldn’t complain.

On the plus side, I don’t have a soldering gun so I just spliced the wires together and the battery seems to be working fine.

I bought this battery pack because I wasn’t completely sure the problem was with the battery and I didn’t want to spent $60 bucks for a complete new battery to find out. It was a little tricky to get the old battery apart because it was glued together so I made sure I could do that before I ordered the insert by filing down an old screwdriver to fit the trianglar screws. I am very satisfied with the performance of the batterypack. After charging it worked perfectly.

    Tenergy Roomba Battery Replacement Kit
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Batteries were somewhat easy to replace once the plastic case opened. It seems that some of the cases are glued shut.

The replacement batteries do not have the same running time as the originals. On a full charge the Roomba runs for about 35 minutes. The unit periodically shuts down and then restarts, which was not normal with the original battery pack.

Not sure if this is due to the new batteries or another problem.

I ordered three of these batteries and they were shipped very quickly. Each came with a triangular screw-driver necessary to open the Roomba battery pack housing. A minor amount of soldering was required and now my Roombas are working like new. So far so good, but the true test will be how long these batteries last. The literature says 1000 charges.

There is nothing wrong with the battery pack. I’ve yet to see how much better they are then original as I just got it working. One just needs to know that getting the lid off that battery case is a bit of a battle it is screwed and glued. Pry it firmly. You will also need to solder and shrink tube the connections. Worth the effort for the money saved I think.

  16. B. Hagen says:

Not bad, but some documentation would have helped.

The replacement battery arrived fast, but the installation was harder than it needed to be due to a lack of documentation. i found some generic instructions online, but it would have been better to have some installation guidelines in the box. The battery was working well once it was installed and charged.

The product was as advertised and the addition of rubber jackets and the ends of the leads was a nice addition so that soldering wasn’t necessary. The 2400mAh is only sufficient for about 1 hour’s worth of operation compared to nearly 2 hours for the manufacturer’s battery (which I’m guessing is 3000mAh although it’s not advertised).

Although it’s not the fault of this battery manufacturer, opening the Roomba battery pack can be very difficult. The plastic case is glued shut and requires extensive effort to open without damaging it. I used a Dremel to cut it open.

    Definitely works

I have to spend another $28 to get solder iron, solder and solder vaccum, so after all I didn’t save much money, but it definitely works.

It is a little hard to open because after removing all the screws, the top is actually glued on. I tried to remove cover by force but nearly broke it. Once the top is removed, the rest is easy, just match the colors and solder the wires to the metal plate. Then put the cover back and that’s it.

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Excellent replacement item. Super easy to solder and get the Roomba back up and running. Got the 2400 mAh battery and lasted a good 1 hour and 20 min. Now that I know how easy it is, I will spend a little more for the 3600 mAh battery. I am so impressed with how easy it was. If you can solder poorly, you can do this!

I ordered this replacement battery since I can solder some wires and am mechanically inclined to some degree. The iRobot people wanted too much money for their replacement to fit my old Roomba; this battery met my needs. Like I said, if you enjoy tearing your old Roomba down to tune it up etc, you’ll prolly be fine twisting 3 wires together and soldering them. The company who shipped my battery forgot to ship along the funky triangle tip shaped screwdriver. They did mail one out a week or so later, which was nice of them! I got excited though, and couldn’t wait for the special screwdriver, so I simply drilled out the old screws that hold the battery case together and just used black electrical tape to hold it together and that worked great! The new battery is holding up well and charges up fast! I’m happy I ordered this replacement.

Got this item from amazon. The seller upgraded the order to 3400mAH for free. Like the others mentioned, you have to be carefull opening the battery as it is glued. Once it is opened then it is simple procedure of soldering the 3 connection. Write down how the layout is or better take a close up picture. SO you don’t connect the black wire where the red one is supposed to go.

After the first charge (about 3-4 hours), the roomba just kept going and going for a long time. I wanted to discharge it totally before recharging it.

    Great deal for 29.95

    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I got this battery pack after my second Roomba battery started running short. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to the 3800 mAh pack instead of the 2400 mAh I ordered. A bonus in the package was the special triangular screwdriver to get the battery case apart. The order was received one week after ordering, another plus.

Installation was a little tricky, some fiddling with a pair of flat-tip screwdrivers to get the case apart. You’ll need a soldering iron to re-attach the connections and a bit of patience to get the case back together, but it sure beats $70 for an out-of-stock battery from IRobot. There are some rough instructions on http://www.all-battery.com website.

    The battery works great, however…
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
The cover of my original battery was superglued so it was very difficult to get it opened to replace the battery with the new one. I had to do some serious cosmetic damage (using chisel, hammer and hot metal) to be able to open it. Most likely it has void the warranty, he he. People should be aware of this difficulty before just buying a replacement.
