Good service, fast shipping. The Scooba robot is very good for the floor tiles but wooden floor because it leaves wet spots along. I’ve bought 2 of these and had a problem with one of them – couldn’t open the trunk after the use. The return process was very easy and quick, no questions asked. The new one works perfectly. Over all I am happy with the purchase.

Why I Love My Scooba Floor-Washing Robot
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Last year I obsessed about the tile in my kitchen, hallway, breakfast room, and utility room. LOTS of tile to obsess about. My 3-year-old grandson had been visiting and came in to show me the bottoms of his socks, which were dirty. I had been mopping. The cleaning lady had been mopping. I couldn’t imagine why we still had so much dirt. We had even been using the steam cleaners, which were getting up lots of dirt, but, as my grandson showed me, there was lots left. Okay, one reason was the 2 dogs who go in and out during rainstorms, red Oklahoma clay mud, and the fact that I drag in mud when I’m doing yard work and gardening.

I tried 20 or so different tile cleaners. Somewhere down the line I realized that it wasn’t the TILE that was dirty; it was the GROUT! So I went at it scientifically, trying each grout-cleaning product to find one that would safely and effectively clean the grout, without having to be scrubbed. I have much too much tile to have time to scrub the grout.

I had worn out one Scooba several years ago and hadn’t replaced it until now. It worked! It actually gets the grime out of the grout, over time, not instantly, and doesn’t require scrubbing. I used it maybe 3 times a day in some areas, but it takes little effort to fill it with the Scooba cleaning product (don’t use anything else because you may end up with a dead Scooba) and then empty out the dirty water when you’re finished.

My tile had always been fairly clean, but now, when I use it, which isn’t every week, it’s squeaky clean. The grout is now almost completely back to its original color.

    I love my Scooba!

Let me add that my cleaning lady uses the Hoover Spin-Mate floor cleaner and I have a review of that as well. She loves it, but she has never used the Scooba of course, because that’s not what cleaning ladies do.

Lots of water left behind, misses spots – no Roomba!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
About two weeks ago I ordered the Roomba and immediately fell in love with it. It does an amazing job of cleaning our carpets, rugs, and wood and tile floors. Being so pleased with this product we immediately ordered the Dirt Dog for the shop and the Scooba 330. I was very hopeful for the performance of the Scooba.

When I started running the first one that we received I noticed it was leaving behind a great deal of water, traveling fast and missing entire parts of the floor, and that it’s algorithm for travel seemed to leave it in some spots for a very long time and yet never hit other spots at all.

Not being ready to give up on the Scooba, we evaluated all the parts to make sure that everything was connected correctly and nothing was clogging the vacuum. Check there — everything okay. I then ran a test with just 1 cup of water and measured only 1/3 cup in the dirty water tank when all the clean water was used. So Scooba had left 2/3 of the water on my floor. I called the iRobot folks and asked them how much water I should expect Scooba to pick up and was told that it should pick up all the water that it drops down.

Hearing this, I decided I should try out a different unit — just in case we had received a bad one. Kudos to the great folks at Amazon for immediately shipping me a replacement that arrived the following morning. Unfortunately, the replacement Scooba had the exact same issues as the original.

This time I measured 3 1/4 cup of water in and only received 1 1/3 cup back in the dirty water tank — a slight improvement but still leaving practically 60% of the water on my floor. What I was left with were huge water spots everywhere.

This one also seemed to have problems with the travel algorithm. My Roomba effectively gets an entire room — while the Scooba missed several areas of my approximately 250 square foot kitchen entirely — places it never even ran over.

This one also races over spots and you can see where part of the area that it covers is not even wet. In fact I had three juice spots in the middle of my floor that I saw Scooba travel over probably half a dozen times and yet never clean up.

I will grant you that it did clean part of my kitchen and the water in the dirty tank was indeed dirty. But having been so impressed with Roomba I am sadly returning the second Scooba that I received. I think that Scooba needs first and foremost an actual wet vac so that it picks up most of the water that it lays down. It also needs to have more consistent cleaning when it goes over an area, and an algorithm for movement that is as effective as Roombas.

If you don’t mind water spots on your floor or don’t mind following along behind it to dry up your floors, it doesn’t do a bad job. But at this point I will wait for a few more versions to come out to see if they implement any of these necessary changes to make this a great product. For now Roomba and my Swiffer Wet Jet do the job much better.

    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I read and followed the instructions carefully, charged the battery as recommended and put the robot to work. Well…it didnt last long. After 5 minutes it stopped working with a service light indicator on and 2 beeps error code which means that you need to contact the support to have the unit repaired. I am returning the item. I will not bother browsing forums about what to do or giving them a second try.

iRobot did a very good job with the roomba (I am very happy with my 530) but my experience with the scooba 330 is unacceptable.

    An unnecessary gadget
    Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This doesn’t really save you much time with mopping, because you still need to go back after the Scooba is done and wipe up the excess water. If you leave the house with the Scooba running, you will come back to a dry floor with water spots all over the place.

For me, the hard part about mopping is all the other steps involved in the process: moving furniture, sweeping, drying. The Scooba only eliminates one step – the actual mopping. But you still need to fill the Scooba, set it up, and clean it. It’s more work than just doing the dang mopping yourself.

Bottom line: if you’re looking to save time with this gadget, you won’t. Don’t waste your money. Way overpriced.

I have owned for over two years and it has only worked about 5 or 6 times during that period. When it works, it takes so many attempts and so much work that I could mop the floor manually in less time. There are always error messages that cause so much frustation.

We have also owned 3 Roombas that have each worked for a short time but eventually fail. The maintenance required and the expensive battery replacements negate the positive benefits of these robots.

The concept is good but the engineering is faulty.

Scooba does what it claims but the dirty water has to be emptied and the hot water or cleaning agent refilled fairly frequently. We use it for a good floor cleaning not a daily scrubber

I’ve been using my Scooba for a couple of years now, and it does an amazing job. As others have noted, it does not clean corners, so plan on wiping these yourself. I do not use the cleaner, as I have hard wood floors and it seemed to leave a haze. I’ve been putting white vinegar in my unit since the beginning, and it works just fine. You will have to purchase replacement parts periodically but they are reasonably priced – if you wait until someone is having a sale. I did have to purchase a new battery recently so the machine didn’t work for a couple of weeks, and boy, did I miss it.

    Unreliable, much down-time
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
Great concept. Unreliable electronics. Expensive cleaning solution

Received this as a Christmas gift a couple years ago. Studied the instructions to make sure I understood and correctly used this, since it is pretty hi-tech. Worked well for a couple months. Did regular maintenance carefully. Then started having problems. Some error codes you can look up online and fix. Some you have to contact company. The errors will start coming more frequently and be more complex. They take longer and longer to solve. Before you know it you are out of warrantee and suddenly support is costly.

The electronic circuitry will go bad (a known problem) and it will cost you an arm and a leg to repair. Batteries are unreliable, die quickly and need to be replaced, and are costly to replace.

I now have a dead Scooba and box of Clorox solution ($$$) sitting in my closet, but it is not worth the headache and money to try to fix this anymore.

I have 2 Roombas that had similar problems. Both are now dead. I will not be fixing them.

Save your money and time. Get a nice ‘standard’ low-tech vacuum and mop. Too bad, it would’ve been a nice idea.

    Great Purchase
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We already had an iRobot Roomba when I decided to also buy this for our hardwood and laminate floors. It works great and the only possible complaints would be that the vacuum filter could be a little bigger to catch more stuff and it could do better along the edges with a brush similar to the side brush on the Roomba. Overall it’s a great time saver. It takes about 2 minutes to get it ready for cleaning and maybe 5 minutes to clean it up after, which easily beats having to mop the floors yourself.

If you are messy, lazy, and not at all into housework (just like me), you MUST purchase a Scooba! My floors haven’t been this clean since I laid the new vinyl fifteen years ago. Trust me, my kitchen floor was REVOLTING, but after turning “Rosie” loose for about 45 minutes, they literally squeaked. I would pass on the expensive Clorox solution unless your floors are as bad as mine. Now that the initial gunk is up off the floor, vinegar and water does just fine. I also have a iRobot “Dirt Dog” named “Astro,” and plan to add the vacuum model Roomba soon. You still have to pick junk up off the floor, and if you want the rooms done well, you have to move furniture, but trust me, my friends have NEVER seen my floors this clean!

I-Rob-Yu – an Incredible waste of time and money
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I have three iRobot products – two roombas and the Scooba – all which now sit unused.

They are all NOT worth the cost and the effort to use to clean a floor – carpet or tile. They take more time to clean, recharge, unstick when stuck, and waste a vast amount of time for prep, cleaning and maintenance. Although at first they are intriguing to watch after a few months you will haul out the old vacumm to give your place a decent cleaning or pull out the mop since it’s a lot easier to just mop the floor.

Roomba: The batteries are unreliable and only last for cleaning a couple of rooms – not a entire typical house. They do not get into corners. They clean by repeatdly changing patterns with multiple passes and in the process miss areas. They have to be emptied after each use. They can’t get over a throw rug on a wood floor or a throw rug on a carpeted floor so they are worthless if you have area rugs. They constantly get stuck. The Roomba’s do a very lousy job of cleaning since they have absolutely worthless suction. After a few months, the roomba’s were just spreading lines of dog hairs around the carpet and leaving a black outline of their tracks.

Scooba: When I first received it the battery would not charge properly. I had to contact iRobot which sent a new battery. It still did not hold a decent charge for more than a few days and barely enough when fully charge to clean the floor. It worked a couple times and then it then stopped spreading fluid on the floor and would not clean at all. I found out this was a design defect and this had to be remedied with a bulb syringe I had to obtain from iRobot again. It repeatedly gets stuck under standard height kitchen cabinets and the dishwasher. Half the time the battery dies before it completes cleaning a 10 by 10 kitchen floor completely.

It takes far more time to prepare the scooba, mix the solution, clean its mechanisms and fill it then it does to simply mop the floor. After each cleaning you must clean out the fluid tubes, clean the intake screens, empty the dirty water tank and rinse it, pull the brush out of the bottom and clean that, and plug it in the recharging station if you are going to use it in a day or so. Otherwise don’t bother charging it for a cleaning next week. It will no hold a charge for more than a few days. Worthless batteries. I have gone through several in a year.

Before use, you have to plug in the charger and wait about 6-8 hours to charge since it will always be uncharged during normal use. You must carefully measure out the special cleaner in a provided cup. You then add water and prime the air intake with a bulb they provide so it will eject the cleaning solution on the floor.

The scooba does a good job scrubbing the floor when you finally get it to work; but it misses every corner and those must be cleaned by hand. It gets stuck easily under cabinets since it it barely low enough for standard kitchen cabinet overhangs. When done -if it doesn’t run out of power first, it then requires a tedious cleaning procedure so it will work the next time.

Bottom line – Rooba and Scooba are incredible time wasters and the opposite of convenient. Like me you will kick yourself for wasting so much money on things which are incredibly frustrating and inefficient.

Clean white sox was my test
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Even though we have 3 floor sweeping Irobot roombas, I was skeptical when I ordered the scooba. My test was to use it on my kitchen floor which gets the most wear and tear, dirt, flour, spillage etc. I followed the instructions and let her go. Once it stopped cleaning and the floor was dry to the last area done, I walked all over with clean white sox. Then I carefully inspected the sox. I was amazed and extremely happy!

After 2 yrs the batteries wore out and I had to scrub the floor with a mop and in areas on my hands and knees. With a bad back and sore knees this was a real chore and really convinced me that I needed to get those batteries replaced asap! So I did and now my Scooba works as good as new! I love the thing and would replace it completely before going back to cleaning with a mop again! It does far better than any mop I’ve tried.

Have owned mine for over a year. At 6 months it broke down – under warrantee – and they sent a replacement. Works well on even surfaces – linoleum, hardwood, smooth ceramic – rustic ceramic or brick floors are out. You must follow the instructions in the manual carefully as the machine is a bit touchy. Cleaning the machine can get a little gross compared to Roomba because everything (lint, etc.) is wet. It doesn’t clean the corners of your rooms – in fact, I think it pushes dirt into them so you will have to go back and touch up for a thorough job. All in all, I like the machine, but it’s not yet perfect,

This is a great concept; the execution is lousy. Like most of the other reviewers, I thought this gizmo was the greatest thing since sliced bread. After several months of infrequent use (maybe 10 cycles altogether) the “check tank” error message began to appear intermittently. The machine had been scrupulously maintained per the instructions. Initially, clearing the feed valve solved the problem. After a few more uses, it refused to start. I haunted the self-help sites and diligently applied every fix I could find. Nothing worked. Scooba powers on, “check tank” light comes on, then nada. All valves were clear. I finally called iRobot to find out about repairs. Get this: there are NO service centers and iRobot does not offer repair service. Pretty remarkable for a $300+ gadget that comes with only a one year warranty. Run a search on “Scooba check tank error”; there are literally thousands of entries, so mine was not an isolated problem. So there it is; for the money you may get light automatic floor cleaning for a year (if you’re lucky); after that, you’ve got an expensive doorstop. And you’re on your own as far as repairs go.

The concept is great… and when it works… it can do a pretty good job…. but… you never know when it is going to “act up” and either not work at all or stop several times during a cleaning cycle. I keep hoping they will work the bugs out… but so far… no such luck.

I live in the desert in a house with 1,800 sq ft. of ceramic tile – white tile. Every day I pick an area and let little Scooba loose. When I come home from work, that area of the house is sparkling clean. I may consider purchasing an additional battery and run it at night too, because it takes several hours to charge, and I seldom go back to run it late at night. I have dogs, and on one occasion the brush got tangled up with dog hair, but because of the construction of the brush and its holder, it was easy to clear the tangle.

I’m really pleased with the Scooba. It cleans while I do other stuff. It does a job I’m way too lazy to do on a frequent basis. My floors are getting cleaned once a week instead of once in a blue moon. I’m satisfied with the level of cleaning and I like the mild, fresh scent of the Clorox cleaning solution. I’m a happy customer and recommend this to other people who have acres of hard surface flooring and don’t like to mop.

(Just wish I could give the little guy a dog treat or something for doing such a great job…)

This was a gift, as my past experiences with the Roomba were underwhelming. But as my kitchen and dining room are tiled, and the task of scrubbing, rinsing and drying the floor was a 3-hour event, I was desperate to find another solution. Scooba did a great job of cleaning the tiles as well as the grout. The floor looked like new, when layers of years-old dirt were lifted. The virtual wall comes in very handy. The unit is so well made, with every removable part labeled and so easy to clean. I just tried it on the hardwood bamboo floors in the bedroom and limestone in the bathroom, with equally fabulous results. In fact, while I’m writing this and doing laundry, the Scooba is cleaning the floors. I urge anyone with hard floor surfaces to buy this, though shop around as it is available many places for far less than the price listed here – either way you will wonder how you lived without it, something I say about VERY FEW cleaning gimmicks.

You may have to do this every time until you find a permanent solution.

I will freely admit that I have only owned this guy long enough to use it once. I will post updates as time goes by because i know from first hand experience (we own the Roomba 560) that i-Robot products can be extremely finicky and customer service is hit or miss. Still, I can’t help gushing. I LOVE SCOOBA! Mushy, gooey LOVE! “Me and Scooba sitting in a tree, K-I-S-S-I-N-G!”

Seriously, there’s nothing I hate so much as cleaning floors (unless its cleaning the bathroom). Our house is all tile and hardwood floors, I love going barefoot but hate the gritty feeling that inevitably builds up. We have a dog, a cat, and two people, so the floors get pretty gross, what with my aversion to mopping. It had been at least a month since i had cleaned them (gross i know) when I put Scooba down for his first test. That little blue guy cheerfully swept and mopped and dried, and in no time my floors felt FANTASTIC!!! Way cleaner than I have ever had the patience to get them! The Scooba Juice (a very tiny bottle comes in the package-it’s made by Clorox and you can only use that or plain vinegar and water lest you ruin Scooba’s electronics) smelled very nice while the cleaning process was going on. Best of all, I was off doing something else entirely while Scooba did all the work (Oh I lie! I was watching Scooba in fascination-everyone does the first couple times you use them).

So far Scooba is very easy to use and to clean. It does a great job on both tile and sealed hardwood floors. I wish we could have afforded to get the upgraded 350 model with the better tank and battery, because I can see where emptying and charging all the time might become a pain, but I am not really complaining because my lovely, smooth floors are just too delightful!

    **UPDATE**

Is now 7 months later. Just used Scooba today and he’s still going strong. Love my nice clean floors. I run Scooba about 3 times a month through the whole house. I am now using the vinegar and water solution which doesn’t smell as nice as the Scooba Juice but costs almost nothing. A faint vinegar smell while Scooba is cleaning quickly goes away after cleaning is done. I will continue to update this. My Roomba needs a new battery after only two years of use and the battery is $90.00. I wish i-Robot products were more durable! But durable or not, I cant live without them! Long Live the “Ooombas!”

I have owned a Roomba since they came out, and loved it. Based on that I bought a Scooba. It has been a great disappointment. My first 6 times using it I had to call customer support every other time. Problems have included it needing to be primed (they sent me a bulb to prime it), problems with the battery charger (killed batteries, they sent a new battery and tool to reprogram my Scooba), and just not working(they replaced the enire unit once). I recently bought a new battery as the second one lasted about 1 year (about 6 uses). On the new battery I’ve gotten one use, and I’m having problems, again. I would not buy one again, at any price.

Please don’t repeat my mistake. It looks like some of these work, but my experience has been very poor.

I was a little apprehensive when I pulled this out of the box – it’s much bigger than I thought it would be, and our kitchen floor really isn’t THAT big.

I set it up, turned it on and let it do it’s thing and it was OH so nice not to have to clean that kitchen floor. I was able to spend time playing with my daughter instead.

We watched the Scooba run for a while, it was interesting to see it make it’s little patterns and paths and I was sure that it would miss some part of the floor but by the time it was done every part of the floor with the exception of the corners had been scrubbed clean and was for the most part dry. There were a few damp spots here and there but no puddles or anything. I was curious how well it would do at picking up dust and hair and dirt while it cleaned – there were a few larger dust bunnies that got smeared across the floor in a wet clump, that didn’t surprise me. A quick wipe with a paper towel and those were cleaned up easily enough. But when I emptied the machine and cleaned it there was a surprising amount of dust and dirt that it did pick up so I was quite pleased with that. It only requires a miniscule amount of cleaning solution if you choose to use it which is nice- I think once I’ve used up my cleaning solution I’ll switch to vinegar and water.

The machine is loud when it runs- I wouldn’t recommend doing it at night when you’re trying to sleep or need peace and quiet. It’s not so loud that you can’t go into the other room and watch television or read a book or something though.

I didn’t use the electronic ‘wall’ that came with the machine – we already had baby gates in use in the doorways and these worked perfectly to make sure the scooba stayed in the kitchen to clean.

Overall I’m very pleased with the purchase – time is very valuable these days and the less of it I have to spend cleaning the happier I am.

I’ve had the Scooba since my flooring was new and use it often, therefore my floors are never dirty and I feel that it has kept my Tile/hardwood looking as new as the day installed. Before Irobot I used to clean when the floor got too dirty. Now with the Scooba and Roomba combo the floor never gets a chance to get dirty.
